The big Tokyo Christmas market 2026 news: the paid Tokyo Christmas Market has left Meiji Jingu Gaien and opens in Shin-Toyosu on Friday 20 November, with a second site under Tokyo Tower in Shiba Park from 4 December. Most other Christmas markets in Tokyo run from early or late November to 25 December, and the bigger free ones are at Roppongi Hills, Ueno Park and Yebisu Garden Place.

Below are ten markets in Tokyo and Yokohama, checked on 19 October 2026 against each organiser’s site or press release. Anything not yet announced is marked Expected, with last year’s dates. We also cover 2026 ticket prices, where to buy them and which market to pick.

How do Tokyo Christmas market tickets work in 2026?

Most markets in Tokyo are free to enter, and you just pay for food and drink. The two exceptions are the Tokyo Christmas Market (both sites) and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

Tokyo Christmas Market (Shin-Toyosu and Shiba Park)

TicketWeekdayWeekend24–25 Dec
Adult (junior high and up)¥1,000¥1,500¥2,000
Child (elementary school)¥500¥500¥1,000
PreschoolFreeFreeFree

These are the 2026 prices from the organiser’s 30 September press release. In 2026 the top price only applies on 24 and 25 December, so 20–23 December is charged at the normal weekday or weekend rate. At Shin-Toyosu the weekend price also applies on public holidays, including Monday 23 November.

Advance tickets are sold only on KKday (on sale since 1 October). The adult advance ticket includes a mug, and each site has its own design: blue at Shin-Toyosu, red at Shiba Park. Same-day tickets don’t come with a mug. The organiser also warns that same-day entry may be limited when it gets busy, so buy in advance for any weekend.

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse sells standard tickets for ¥500–¥1,000 plus limited, date-specific Priority tickets. Sales details are due in late October 2026 (official site).

Where: 6-4 Toyosu, Koto City. About 2 min from Shin-Toyosu Station or 4 min from Shijo-mae Station (Yurikamome Line).
The Vibe: Big, open-air and festive. Good for groups who want the full German-market experience.
Prix : Adults ¥1,000 weekdays / ¥1,500 weekends and holidays / ¥2,000 on 24–25 Dec. Children ¥500 (¥1,000 on 24–25 Dec). Under school age free.

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Open daily 11:00–21:30, but last entry is 20:30 and last order 21:00. The opening day (20 Nov) only starts at 16:00. Arrive by 19:00 if you want to eat properly.

2. Tokyo Christmas Market in Shiba Park (Paid market with Tokyo Tower views)

The Lowdown: The second site is the plaza by Onarimon Station, with Tokyo Tower right behind the stalls and a Christmas pyramid about 14 m tall. It’s shorter (22 days) and stays open later than Shin-Toyosu.

Where: Shiba Park Area 4, in front of Onarimon Station (Toei Mita Line, Exit A6, 1 min).
The Vibe: The photo market. Tower, pyramid and fairy lights in one shot.
Prix : Same as Shin-Toyosu: ¥1,000 / ¥1,500 / ¥2,000 for adults. The weekend price applies Saturday and Sunday.

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Hours are 11:00–22:00, last entry 21:00, last order 21:30. Visit both sites with advance tickets and the blue and red mugs fit together to make a pyramid design.

3. Roppongi Hills Christmas Market (Free classic market)

The Lowdown: This is the 20th edition of the Stuttgart-style market on Roppongi Hills’ Oyane Plaza. It has about 10 stalls with German food and drink. It’s small, free and very popular.

Where: Oyane Plaza, Roppongi Hills. Connected to Roppongi Station (Hibiya Line) by the concourse.
The Vibe: Compact and traditional. Busy with office workers after 18:00.
Prix : Free entry. Food and drink are paid; 2026 menu prices aren’t published yet.
Official Link: christmas.hills-site.com (full details due 22 Oct)

💡 Japan Pro Tip: The market is open 11:00–21:00 and the Keyakizaka illumination runs 17:00–22:00 from 5 November. Have dinner first, then walk down Keyakizaka once the market closes.

4. Azabudai Hills Christmas Market (Free newer market)

The Lowdown: Mori Building says Azabudai Hills will hold a market over the same period as Roppongi Hills (21 Nov–25 Dec). In 2025 it was in Central Plaza with a glühwein pot service. The 2026 details aren’t out yet.

Where: Azabudai Hills, next to Kamiyacho Station (Hibiya Line).
The Vibe: Polished and less hectic than Roppongi.
Prix : Free entry in 2025; 2026 not announced.
Official Link: christmas.hills-site.com

💡 Japan Pro Tip: It’s about a 15-minute walk from Roppongi Hills, so you can do both markets in one evening.

5. Christmas Market in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (Paid harbourside market)

The Lowdown: Yokohama’s best-known Christmas market has an 11 m live Christmas tree in front of the brick warehouses. It runs 20 November–25 December. It’s about an hour from central Tokyo, but worth the trip.

Where: Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, Naka Ward. Nearest stations are Bashamichi or Nihon-odori (Minatomirai Line).
The Vibe: Pretty and very crowded on weekends.
Prix : Standard ¥500–¥1,000; Priority ¥2,000–¥2,500. Primary-school age and under free with a guardian; junior high and under free until 4 Dec.
Official Link: yokohama-akarenga.jp/christmas

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Same-day standard tickets are cash only. There’s an ATM on the 1st floor of Building 2 (opens 11:00). Hours are 11:00–21:00 until 4 December and 11:00–22:00 from 5 December.

6. Ballpark Xmas Yokohama Kannai (Free park market)

The Lowdown: This market fills Yokohama Park, next to the baseball stadium, with mulled wine, an eight-sausage sharing platter and goods imported from Germany. Nihon-odori is lit for 430 m.

Where: Yokohama Park. About 3 min from Kannai Station (JR / Blue Line) or Nihon-odori Station (Minatomirai Line).
The Vibe: Relaxed, roomy and family-friendly.
Prix : Free entry; some content is paid. Programme details are due in early November.
Official Link: ballparkxmas.com

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Combine it with Red Brick Warehouse: both are near Nihon-odori Station, so one evening covers both.

7. Tokyo Christmas Advent, Ueno Park (Free market and illuminations)

The Lowdown: Tokyo’s earliest big market opens on 6 November at Hakamagoshi Plaza. From 18 November, the Shinobazu Pond area adds 30+ huts and over 100 Santa figures.

Where: Hakamagoshi Plaza (1 min from Keisei-Ueno, 3 min from JR Ueno) and the Shinobazu Pond area.
The Vibe: Lively, local and cheap. Good with kids.
Prix : Free entry. Circus “AURA” (27 Nov–24 Dec) is ticketed: ¥3,500 in advance.
Official Link: christmas-advent.jp

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Hakamagoshi is open 12:00–23:00, the latest of any market here. Shinobazu opens at 15:00 Mon–Thu and 12:00 Fri–Sun and holidays.

8. Yebisu Garden Place Christmas Market (Free illumination market)

The Lowdown: The market and illuminations run 14 November–25 December across Clock Square, Château Square and the promenade. The Baccarat Eternal Lights chandelier display stays until 11 January 2027.

Where: Yebisu Garden Place, reached via the Skywalk from JR Ebisu Station.
The Vibe: Grown-up, romantic, date-night.
Prix : No admission fee listed.
Official Link: gardenplace.jp

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Some illuminations stay up until 28 February 2027, so January visitors still get the lights without the market.

9. Tokyo Skytree Town Christmas Market (Expected — free)

The Lowdown: In 2025 the market ran on the 4F Sky Arena at Tokyo Solamachi from 6 November to 25 December, 11:00–22:00, with free entry. The 2026 dates hadn’t been announced when we checked.

Where: Tokyo Solamachi, Oshiage. Tokyo Skytree Station or Oshiage Station.
The Vibe: Easy, under-cover, good for a rainy night.
Prix : Free entry in 2025.
Official Link: Tokyo Skytree Town official site (2026 page not live yet)

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Pair it with a sunset visit to the Skytree deck and you’re done before the market rush.

10. Marunouchi Street Park Winter (Expected — street market)

The Lowdown: In 2025, 19 stalls ran on Naka-dori and Gyoko-dori from 13 November to 25 December, 11:00–22:00. 2026 dates aren’t out yet.

Where: Marunouchi Naka-dori and Gyoko-dori, Tokyo Station.
The Vibe: Smart, central, good for a quick drink.
Prix : Not announced.
Official Link: Marunouchi.com (2026 not announced)

💡 Japan Pro Tip: It’s the easiest market to reach from a Tokyo Station hotel or between trains.

Not announced yet: Shibuya’s MIYASHITA PARK market (1–25 Dec in 2025; paid entry on some peak days) and Tokyo Dome City’s Nordic Xmas Park (weekends and 24–25 Dec in 2025). We’d rather leave a gap than give you a wrong date.

Book dinner before the market, not after

Market food is mostly snacks you eat standing up in the cold. Restaurants around Roppongi, Ebisu and Yokohama fill up from late November, and on 24 December the popular ones can be booked out weeks ahead. In Japan, Christmas Eve is a date night.

Many good restaurants only take bookings by Japanese-language phone or forms. That’s our problem, not yours: Japan Pro can book a table near your market, matched to your times and budget. Our guide to booking restaurants in Japan explains how it works.

Informez-vous avant de partir

Carry cash

Red Brick same-day tickets are cash only. Other markets haven't published payment rules, so carry yen and a charged IC card.

Mug rules

Only Tokyo Christmas Market advance tickets include the mug. Ueno switches to paper cups once its mugs sell out.

Last entry

Shin-Toyosu last entry is 20:30 and Shiba Park's is 21:00. Arrive by 20:00 at the latest.

Rain

Red Brick runs in the rain but may close in storms. Ueno may close early in rain. Check the organiser's social accounts on the day.
