Magical Winter 2026–27
A standard adult ticket to the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo (officially Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo – The Making of Harry Potter) costs ¥6,600–¥7,300, depending on the date. Every ticket is for a set date and entry time. Book on the official site, and allow three to four hours inside.
It’s not a theme park. There are no rides. You walk through real film sets, props and costumes on the old Toshimaen amusement park site in Nerima, two minutes from Toshimaen Station. Below: exact prices, which ticket to buy, how to get there, what’s on this winter, and the small rules that catch visitors out.

How much are Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo tickets?
Prices include tax and change with the date. These are the official prices for visits from 1 July 2026, when the studio raised its lower price bands:
| Ticket | Adult (18+) | Junior (12–17) | Child (4–11) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ¥6,600–¥7,300 | ¥5,500–¥6,000 | ¥4,000–¥4,400 |
| Package (Standard + extras) | ¥10,080–¥10,780 | ¥8,980–¥9,480 | ¥7,480–¥7,880 |
| Afternoon Tea Package | ¥14,000–¥14,700 | ¥12,900–¥13,400 | ¥11,400–¥11,800 |
| Evening High Tea Package | from ¥16,500 | from ¥15,300 | from ¥13,700 |
| Guided Tour (Basic) | ¥10,800 | ¥9,600 | ¥9,400 |
| Guided Tour (Advance) | ¥14,800 | ¥13,600 | ¥12,000 |
Children aged 3 and under go free, but they still need a free infant ticket on your booking. Disabled visitors with a valid ticket get one free carer ticket.
Paid extras, from the same price list:
| Add-on | Price |
|---|---|
| Digital Guide (handheld, 5 languages) | ¥1,480 per device |
| Souvenir Guidebook (Japanese or English) | ¥2,500 |
| Broom Experience (green-screen photo/video) | ¥5,500 on the price list; packages “from ¥4,000” bought on the day |
| Car or motorbike parking | 2,000엔 |
Note for October 2026: after a small fire on 29 September 2026 (no injuries; the tour is running as normal), the Digital Guide is temporarily suspended. Anyone who already bought one gets a refund, and the notice also lets ticket holders change their date or ask for a refund. The Package ticket (which bundles the Digital Guide) isn’t listed on the ticket page while the suspension lasts.
Watch out for stale prices: the official price-list page still shows the old ¥6,300 adult floor, but the studio’s pricing notice and the ticket page both put adults at ¥6,600 and up for any visit after 30 June 2026. Pick a date in the booking calendar to see that day’s exact price.
Can you buy tickets at the door?
Yes, but don’t plan on it. The official FAQ confirms an on-site ticket office, but entry is capped by time slot, and the official line is to pre-book because your date or time “may be sold out”. Some older English guides still say there are no on-site sales. That’s out of date.
Three legitimate ways to buy:
- Official website – pick a date and time, pay by credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Cards need 3D Secure, or payment can fail.
- 7-Eleven – the Multi-Copy machine in store or the 7ticket website (Japanese only).
- Authorised distributors – resellers such as Klook sell dated tickets too. Only tickets from the studio or its authorised distributors are valid. Auction-site tickets get turned away.
Cash works only at the on-site ticket office. IC cards (Suica, Pasmo), iD and QUICPay are not accepted for tickets.
When do tickets go on sale, and do they sell out?
The studio releases dates in blocks. Right now, tickets are on sale for visits up to 31 March 2027. It doesn’t publish a fixed release schedule, so sign up for the official newsletter if you’re planning further ahead. Special events get their own sale dates. The family “Magical Feast to Share” dinner, for example, goes on general sale on 28 October 2026 at 12:00 JST.
Weekends, Japanese school holidays and the Christmas season fill first. Book as soon as your Tokyo dates are fixed, especially for a morning slot.
Changes and refunds: tickets are non-refundable and can’t be transferred to someone else. You can change the date or time for ¥1,500 per change. Contact Visitor Services before your original slot. If you booked through a reseller, changes go through that reseller.
Which ticket should you buy?
1. Standard Ticket (General admission)
The Lowdown: Timed entry to the full self-guided route. Everything most visitors want is included, including the Great Hall, Forbidden Forest, Ministry of Magic and Diagon Alley.
Where: Main entrance, 1-1-7 Kasugacho, Nerima.
The Vibe: Go at your own pace. There’s no time limit once you’re in.
Price: Adult ¥6,600–¥7,300; Junior ¥5,500–¥6,000; Child ¥4,000–¥4,400.
Official Link: Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo tickets
💡 Japan Pro Tip: You can enter the building up to an hour before your slot. Use that hour for lockers, toilets and the Food Hall, then start the tour fed and hands-free.
2. Package Ticket (Admission + extras)
The Lowdown: Standard admission bundled with add-ons, sold as a value package with the Digital Guide and Souvenir Guidebook. It costs a little less than buying the extras separately.
Where: Collect the guidebook at the Studio Tour Shop or Information Desk at the end.
The Vibe: For superfans who want the behind-the-scenes audio and a book to take home.
Price: Adult ¥10,080–¥10,780; Junior ¥8,980–¥9,480; Child ¥7,480–¥7,880 (visits from 1 July 2026).
Official Link: Ticket pricing notice
💡 Japan Pro Tip: The Package isn’t on sale while the Digital Guide is suspended after the September fire. Buy a standard ticket and add the guidebook on the day for ¥2,500.
3. Guided Tour (Small group)
The Lowdown: A staff guide leads a small group (2–10 people) through the production stories behind the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films. At its 2025 launch it ran in Japanese only, lasted about 3.5 hours and had to be booked at least 14 days ahead. It is not running from 7 September to 10 November 2026, and later dates are still TBA.
Where: Meet at the studio at the time on your ticket. Arrive late and you may not be able to join, with no refund.
The Vibe: Slower and more detailed than a solo walk. Best for Japanese speakers or film-craft nerds.
Price: Basic ¥10,800 / Advance ¥14,800 (adult).
Official Link: Price list
💡 Japan Pro Tip: Check the language on the booking page before paying. If it’s still Japanese-only, a standard ticket is the better buy for non-Japanese speakers.
4. Afternoon Tea / Evening High Tea Package (Dining)
The Lowdown: Admission plus a seasonal tea in a dedicated area of the Backlot Café, halfway round the tour. The afternoon tea includes one glass of sparkling wine or a mocktail.
Where: Backlot Café, mid-tour.
The Vibe: A sit-down break with a time limit. Tea is limited to 90 minutes, high tea to 120 minutes.
Price: Afternoon Tea ¥14,000–¥14,700 (adult, visits up to 10 November 2026); Evening High Tea from ¥16,500 (adult, visits up to 8 November 2026).
Official Link: Ticket information
💡 Japan Pro Tip: Both must be used at least three hours before closing. Book an early tour slot so you aren’t rushed through the second half.
5. Dinner at Hogwarts (Seasonal special)
The Lowdown: A sit-down dinner in the decorated Great Hall. The ¥58,000 “Magical Winter” course dinner includes a private after-hours tour. The family “Magical Feast to Share” is a sharing-style dinner and does not include the private tour.
Where: The Great Hall set.
The Vibe: A once-a-year splurge. It’s the only time you get to sit at the long tables.
Price: Magical Winter ¥58,000 (2, 3, 10 and 11 December 2026). Magical Feast to Share ¥29,000 adults (20+), ¥15,000 for elementary school age to 19 (5 and 12 December 2026).
Official Link: Magical Winter
💡 Japan Pro Tip: The family dinner goes on sale on 28 October 2026 at 12:00 JST. Set an alarm. There are only two dates.
Off the menu for now: the Wand Workshop, the Wand Combat Lesson (in Japanese) and the Night Tour (in Japanese, ¥5,500) all show “no tickets currently available”.
How do you get to the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo?

The studio is a 2-minute walk from Toshimaen Station. Two train lines serve it:
| 출발지 | Route | 시간 | Fare (one way) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 이케부쿠로 | Seibu Ikebukuro Line (Toshima Line) to Toshimaen | about 17 min | ¥210 (IC ¥207) |
| 신주쿠 | Toei Oedo Line direct to Toshimaen | about 20 min | ¥280 (IC ¥272) |
| Haneda Airport | Airport Limousine Bus (Hikarigaoka/Nerima route), stops at the studio entrance since 1 March 2026 | varies | see operator |
On the Seibu side, check that the train shows Toshimaen as its destination before boarding. If it doesn’t, ride to Nerima and change to the Toshima Line shuttle for one stop. Seibu raised its fares on 14 March 2026, so older guides quoting ¥190 are out of date. The Oedo Line is easier if you’re staying around Shinjuku, Roppongi or Shiodome. Both lines take IC cards, and our IC 카드 가이드 covers the basics.
Driving: for visits up to 31 December 2026, you must reserve parking (¥2,000) when you buy your tickets. From 1 January 2027, advance parking tickets end and you pay ¥2,000 on arrival. There’s no EV charging, and the car park is for ticket holders only.
Landing at Haneda? The limousine bus stop makes the studio doable on a long layover, though with the 3–4 hour visit it’s tight. See our Haneda layover guide before you try.
How long does the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo take?
The studio recommends three to four hours, and there’s no time limit. Add up to an hour before your slot if you plan to eat or use the lockers first, plus queueing time at the shop at the end.

What actually happens:
- Arrive. You and your bags go through a security check. Large bags and suitcases go through scanners. No photos until you’re past the checkpoint.
- Pre-entry hour. Up to one hour before your slot, you can use the Food Hall, Frog Café, shop, lockers and toilets.
- Enter within 30 minutes of your time. If you’re late, staff will offer the next free slot, depending on availability. After the day’s final tour has started, entry isn’t guaranteed.
- Group start, then solo. The tour opens as a group (including a short pre-show cinema), then becomes self-guided for the rest of the route.
- Backlot break. The Backlot Café sits about halfway through.
- Exit through the shop. It’s open only to ticket holders.
Opening hours vary by date, so check the official calendar. For late October and November 2026, the calendar shows the doors opening at 08:30 and the first tour at 09:00. On most weekdays the last tour starts at 15:00 and the building closes at 19:00. On weekends and many holidays the last tour is 17:00 and closing is 21:00. Because of the 3–4 hour visit, a slot before 13:00 is the safe choice on weekdays.
What’s inside, and what’s exclusive to Tokyo?
The core sets on the official list:
- The Great Hall – the dining hall, modelled on a 16th-century Oxford hall.
- Platform 9 ¾ – a platform section and a train carriage interior. Warner Bros.’ opening release says the locomotive is a real 1929 British steam engine, Dumbleton Hall, refurbished in England and shipped to Japan.
- Forbidden Forest – it gets darker as you go, with scenes from Buckbeak’s first lesson and Aragog’s lair.
- Ministry of Magic (Tokyo only) – a full-size, walk-in set covering over 900 m², with walls around 30 ft high, over 30,000 tiles made for the set, and nine-foot fireplaces you can step into for a Floo Network photo.
- Diagon Alley – the wizarding shopping street. Gringotts appears here as part of the street.
- Great Wizarding Express (Tokyo only) – a train carriage set from Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, listed as exclusive in the 2023 opening release.
Interactive extras include the green-screen broom ride, appearing as a moving portrait and joining a Quidditch crowd. Photos and videos download after your visit via an imagic account. The broom footage costs extra.
Heads-up: the Knight Bus is off display for maintenance and is expected back in early November 2026.
What’s on at the Studio Tour this autumn and winter?
| 이벤트 | Dates | What’s different |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Arts Halloween | 10 Sep – 8 Nov 2026 | Halloween theming, plus a seasonal afternoon tea and high tea |
| 휴무 | 11–12 Nov 2026 | No tours |
| Magical Winter | 13 Nov 2026 – 11 Jan 2027 | Great Hall decorated for Christmas with about 400 floating candles; snow-covered Forbidden Forest with Buckbeak and a Patronus-lit path; snowy Hogwarts castle |
| Dinner at Hogwarts | 2, 3, 5, 10, 11, 12 Dec 2026 | Sit-down dinners in the Great Hall (see above) |
Magical Winter is the busiest stretch of the year. If you want to see it, book now. It also pairs well with an evening at one of the city’s winter illuminations.
Where to eat: Butterbeer, Food Hall and Backlot Café
- Food Hall (before or after the tour) – hot and cold British-style meals. Seasonal items so far include a Halloween Burger.
- Frog Café (before or after) – sweets, house-themed cupcakes and doughnuts.
- Butterbeer Bar – billed as the world’s largest.
- Backlot Café (mid-tour) – hot food, snacks and a Hogwarts house meal set. It’s also where the afternoon tea is served (the Dark Arts Halloween Afternoon Tea is ¥7,500 on its own).
- Picnic area – you’re allowed to bring your own food.
There are two water servers for refilling your own bottle. Paper cups aren’t provided, so bring one.
Shopping: what to know before the till
The studio calls it the world’s largest Harry Potter shop, with 14 themed sections. It takes cash, major cards, Apple Pay, PayPay, Alipay and WeChat Pay. It doesn’t take IC cards, iD or QUICPay. There’s no duty-free, no ATM and no delivery service, so budget for carrying it all home. Our tax refund guide explains where tax-free shopping does apply.
Is the Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo worth it?
For fans, yes. ¥6,600–¥7,300 buys 3–4 hours among real sets, props and costumes, with no time limit. The Ministry of Magic alone is worth the trip. If you want rides and Hogwarts Castle in the open air, that’s the Wizarding World at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, which is a different product. Our USJ tickets guide covers that one.
It’s less worth it if you’re not into the films. It’s mostly walking and looking, not doing.
Tips for families and visitors with kids
- Pushchairs: allowed. Wagon-style buggies and tricycles with handles are not. Free pushchairs are available at the Information Desk, but numbers are limited. Reserve one via the online contact form or chat.
- Wheelchairs: manual and electric wheelchairs are welcome. Free loan chairs are available, subject to stock. Mobility scooters aren’t allowed.
- Bags: coin lockers are inside and outside. Leave suitcases in the outdoor lockers.
- Photos: phones and handheld cameras are fine everywhere except the pre-show cinema and green-screen areas.
- Battery: charger rental exists but stock is limited, so bring a power bank. Free Wi-Fi is available.
- Under-4s go free, but add their infant ticket to your booking.
