What’s new at Harry Potter Studio Tour Tokyo Magical Winter 2026?

Three sets get the winter treatment, and one of them is brand new. Here’s what the official pages confirm.

1. The snowy Forbidden Forest (new, Confirmed)

This is the headline. For the first time, the Forbidden Forest set is covered in snow. A Buckbeak figure stands among the white trees, and projected, glowing footprints lead you on towards Aragog’s forest. If you’ve been before, this is the reason to go again. Japanese name: 禁じられた森.

2. The Great Hall at Christmas (Confirmed)

The Great Hall is dressed for Christmas again, lit by around 400 floating candles, with Christmas trees over 5 metres tall, wreaths, garlands and a festive feast laid on the tables. According to the press release, the ornaments were hand-finished by the film’s makers. Japanese name: 大広間.

3. The snow-covered Hogwarts Castle model (Confirmed)

The giant Hogwarts Castle model, normally the tour’s finale, is blanketed in snow and lit with seasonal sparkle. It’s a winter-only view. Note that the castle image on the official page is from a previous year, so this year’s look may differ slightly. Japanese name: ホグワーツ城.

4. Diagon Alley, food and merchandise (TBA)

The official page teases “something new” in Diagon Alley this winter, plus limited-time food, drinks and exclusive merchandise. No details yet. We’ll update this guide when they’re announced, so don’t trust any blog that claims to know.

How much are Studio Tour Tokyo tickets in winter 2026?

Standard tickets cost ¥6,600–7,300 for adults, and the exact price depends on the date and time you pick. All prices include tax. Children aged 3 and under go free with an infant ticket. Standard, package and Afternoon Tea prices below are the official figures for visits from 1 July 2026 (pricing update notice); the rest are from the official price list.

TicketAdult (18+)Junior (12–17)Child (4–11)
Standard¥6,600–7,300¥5,500–6,000¥4,000–4,400
Package ticket¥10,080–10,780¥8,980–9,480¥7,480–7,880
Guided Tour Basic¥10,800¥9,600¥9,400
Guided Tour Advance¥14,800¥13,600¥12,000
Afternoon Tea Package¥14,000–14,700¥12,900–13,400¥11,400–11,800
Evening High Tea Package¥16,500–16,800¥15,300–15,500¥13,700–13,900
Digital guide (EN, JP, ZH, KO, TW)¥1,480 per device (add-on)
Official Guide¥2,500 (add-on)

Two things to know. First, the tickets page showed standard adult tickets “from ¥6,600” on 21 October, matching the July 2026 price update. The older price list page still shows a ¥6,300 minimum, but don’t expect to see it for winter dates. Second, Afternoon Tea is available for visits up to Mon 11 January 2027 and Evening High Tea up to Sun 10 January 2027. Both must be used at least 3 hours before the tour closes.

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Prices vary by date, and the Studio Tour doesn’t publish a date-by-date price list. Weekdays outside Christmas week are your best bet for the lower end of the range, since weekends and 21–30 December get the longest opening hours and the biggest crowds. The exact price appears when you choose a date and time on the booking page, so compare two or three dates before you pay.

What are the opening hours during Magical Winter?

Doors open at 08:30 and the first tour starts at 09:00 on almost every day of the season. What changes is the closing time, so check it for your date. These hours come from the official opening times calendar.

Hogwarts Christmas dinner in Tokyo: which one should you book?

There are two Dinner at Hogwarts events in December 2026, both in the Great Hall. One is a grown-up, after-hours affair. The other, new this year, is the first Dinner at Hogwarts that children can join. Details are from the official Magical Winter dinner と Magical Feast To Share pages.

Our verdict: the ¥58,000 dinner is the one for superfans, because the after-hours tour of an empty studio is something regular visitors never get. The Magical Feast To Share is the better deal for families. A family of four (two adults, two children) pays ¥88,000 including admission, and the evening finishes at 20:00, which is kinder to small children.

Neither dinner page sets out a cancellation policy, and the tickets page states that tickets are non-refundable, so treat your booking as final. Allergy or dietary requests must reach the Studio Tour by Tue 17 November. Magical Winter dinner guests must also reply to a confirmation email about place cards by Tue 3 November, so make sure emails from @wbstudiotour.jp aren’t going to spam.

Children of elementary school age and up can join Dinner at Hogwarts ~A Magical Feast To Share~ on 5 and 12 December 2026. Photo: Mikhail Nilov / Pexels

Can kids join the Hogwarts dinner?

Yes, but only the Magical Feast To Share. It is open to children of elementary school age and older. Infants, toddlers and pre-school children can’t attend. The ¥58,000 Magical Winter dinner is strictly 18 and over. Under-20s at the family dinner must come with a parent, guardian or adult aged 20 or over. Alcohol is adults only, and no alcohol is served to anyone who is driving.

Watch the group size. Tables are for one group of 3–4, and you can’t book for just 1 or 2 people. A couple with one child works. A couple on their own doesn’t.

How far in advance should you book Studio Tour Tokyo for winter?

Tickets are already on sale for visits up to 31 March 2027, so you can book the whole Magical Winter season now. Book as soon as your dates are fixed, especially for weekends, 21–30 December and the New Year holidays. Those are the days with the longest opening hours, a sign the Studio Tour expects its biggest crowds.

  • Standard tickets: sold for a specific date and entry time on the official tickets page. There is an onsite ticket office, but the Studio Tour recommends booking ahead because slots sell out. (Some guides say there are no onsite sales. The official tickets page says otherwise.)
  • Payment: card payments may fail if your card isn’t registered for 3D Secure. Check with your bank before sale day.
  • Dinners: sale days move fast. The official page warns that high demand may cause delays or errors, and that missed tickets can’t be held for you later. Be online at 12:00 JST sharp on Wed 28 October.
  • Resale: tickets from unauthorised sellers, including auction sites, won’t get you in.

Is Studio Tour Tokyo worth it in winter?

Yes, if you’ve never been, and also if you have. Winter is the only time you see the castle and, this year, the Forbidden Forest under snow. The Studio Tour is mostly indoors, so cold or rainy days matter less than at most attractions (we keep a list of other rainy-day Tokyo ideas too). It isn’t cheap, though. At ¥6,600–7,300 for an adult, it costs more than most Tokyo attractions. If you’re only lukewarm about the films, spend the money elsewhere.

Japan has been named Favourite Country for a Holiday at the Ultratravel ULTRAs two years running (JNTO, 9 October 2026), and winter is one of the best times to see why. Studio Tour Tokyo fits neatly into a December trip alongside the Tokyo illuminations と Christmas markets.

Best photo spots at Magical Winter (and when the snow is on)

The Studio Tour’s own Magical Winter announcement leads on three shots: the candlelit Great Hall, the snowy Forbidden Forest and the snow-covered castle. Under #ワーナーブラザーススタジオツアー東京 you’ll also see plenty of costume outfits (“Harry Potter coordinates”) and café treats. Here’s how to get the shots.

  • Great Hall: it comes early in the tour, so book the first slot of the day (09:00 on most days) to beat the crowds behind you.
  • Snowy Forbidden Forest: follow the glowing footprints and frame Buckbeak against the white trees.
  • Hogwarts Castle model: walk the full loop around it. The light changes as you go.
  • Costumes: robes and character outfits are welcome at both dinners, and they’re a top Instagram theme. Bring a power bank, because you’ll shoot more than you expect.

When does the snow effect run? The official pages don’t list any timed snowfall. The snow is described as covering the Forbidden Forest and the castle for the whole season, so you don’t need to plan around a show time. If a timed effect is announced, we’ll add it here.

How do you get to Studio Tour Tokyo?

Take the train to Toshimaen Station, which is a 2-minute walk from the entrance. The address is 1-1-7 Kasugacho, Nerima-ku, Tokyo 179-0074 (official access page).

  • From Ikebukuro: Seibu Ikebukuro Line (Toshima Line), direct to Toshimaen in 17 minutes.
  • From Shinjuku: Toei Oedo Line, direct to Toshimaen in 20 minutes.
  • From Haneda Airport: the Airport Limousine Bus (Haneda ⇔ Hikarigaoka/Nerima route) has stopped at “Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo” since 1 March 2026.
  • By car: parking must be reserved in advance for visits up to 31 December 2026 (¥2,000). From 1 January 2027, advance parking tickets are no longer sold. The Studio Tour recommends the train.

Tap through with any IC card. If you don’t have one yet, read our IC card guide.

Half-day plan: Studio Tour, onsen and dinner in Ikebukuro

Most visitors go straight back to central Tokyo. Instead, stay for a soak. Toshimaen Niwa no Yu, a hot spring spa, is also a 2-minute walk from Toshimaen Station. Here’s a weekday plan for a group of adults.

TimeStopCost
13:00Studio Tour entry (book a 13:00 slot; on most weekdays the final tour starts at 15:00 and doors close at 19:00)¥6,600–7,300 adult
17:00–18:00Shop or café at the Studio Tour, then walk to Toshimaen Niwa no Yu (2 min from the station)–
18:00Enter Niwa no Yu at the Night Spa rate (from 18:00; the regular weekday rate before that is ¥2,600). Indoor and outdoor baths, sauna, garden¥1,800 weekdays; ¥2,400 weekends/holidays; ¥2,500 special dates
19:30Seibu Ikebukuro Line to Ikebukuro (17 min) for dinnerIC card fare

Our planning estimate is about 4 hours from tour entry to dinner. That’s our own timing, not an official figure, so allow longer if you linger in the shop. Niwa no Yu opens 10:00–23:00 (last entry 22:00), and admission includes towels and loungewear. Its “special dates” pricing applies from Sat 26 December 2026 to Sun 3 January 2027. Prices are from the official Niwa no Yu page.

Three honest caveats. Niwa no Yu admits ages 13 and over only, so it doesn’t work for families with younger children. It refuses entry to anyone with tattoos, including sticker tattoos (see our onsen and tattoos guide). And it’s closed for maintenance Mon 9 – Fri 13 November 2026, which includes Magical Winter’s opening day.

💡 Japan Pro Tip: Ikebukuro is the easy dinner stop because the Seibu Ikebukuro Line runs straight there. Rather than queue at a chain, book a dinner course or a local food tour through Japan Pro, with English-speaking hosts and the reservation done for you.
