Holiday dates below come from the Cabinet Office list in our 2027년 일본 공휴일 guide. Seasonal dates are typical patterns, not forecasts; official 2027 sakura and foliage forecasts have not been published.

2027년 일정

Why demand spikes

Book by

Thu 11 Feb; Sat 20–Tue 23 Feb

National Foundation Day; Emperor’s Birthday long weekend

4–6 weeks ahead

Sat 20–Mon 22 Mar

Three-day weekend; Nozomi trains all-reserved

6–8 weeks ahead

Late March–early April

Cherry blossom season plus school spring break

2–3 months ahead

Thu 29 Apr, Sat 1–Wed 5 May

골든위크

2–3 months ahead

Sat 17–Mon 19 Jul

Marine Day long weekend

4–6 weeks ahead

Wed 11–Mon 16 Aug

Obon: Mountain Day plus the Obon week

2 months ahead

Sat 18–Mon 20 Sep; Thu 23 Sep

Respect for the Aged Day weekend; Autumnal Equinox

4–6 weeks ahead

Sat 9–Mon 11 Oct

Sports Day long weekend

4–6 weeks ahead

Mid-November–early December; Sat 20–Tue 23 Nov

Autumn leaves, especially Kyoto; Labour Thanksgiving with a Monday bridge day

6–8 weeks ahead for Kyoto

Reserved Shinkansen seats go on sale at 10:00 one month before travel, according to JR Central, so a tour with a bullet-train leg fills fast once that window opens. Read the cancellation rule before the price, because the rules vary widely between listings. These are the actual terms shown on the pages we checked on 27 October 2026.

Listing

Cancellation rule

Weather or itinerary changes

Japan Panoramic Tours, Fuji and Hakone (Viator)

Free up to 24 hours before

Itinerary may change for weather, traffic or operations; alternative places or a gift offered; “Refunds will not be given for these changes”

Private Fuji and Hakone with driver (Viator, 4.8 from 261 reviews)

Full refund up to 24 hours before

No weather policy stated; 5th Station entry and hiking-season shuttle charged extra

Mount Fuji + Chureito, by train (Civitatis)

75% refund 48+ hours before, 50% at 24+ hours, nothing after

기재 없음

Mt. Only the operator cancelling triggers a full refund. If seeing Fuji is the whole point, book a flexible DIY trip or a tour with free cancellation, then check the forecast 25 hours ahead.

Fuji tours also lose the 5th Station on some days. The Japan Panoramic Tours listing names a June hill-climb race as one example and swaps in alternatives such as Oshino Hakkai or the Fujisan World Heritage Center.

The Itsukushima Shrine torii at Miyajima, Hiroshima. For Kyoto, a small-group walking tour gives you the most for your money.
