Here’s what the official pages confirm.

1. The snowy Forbidden Forest (new, Confirmed)

This is the headline. For the first time, the Forbidden Forest set is covered in snow. A Buckbeak figure stands among the white trees, and projected, glowing footprints lead you on towards Aragog’s forest. If you’ve been before, this is the reason to go again. Japanese name: 禁じられた森.

2. The Great Hall at Christmas (Confirmed)

The Great Hall is dressed for Christmas again, lit by around 400 floating candles, with Christmas trees over 5 metres tall, wreaths, garlands and a festive feast laid on the tables. According to the press release, the ornaments were hand-finished by the film’s makers. Japanese name: 大広間.

3. The snow-covered Hogwarts Castle model (Confirmed)

The giant Hogwarts Castle model, normally the tour’s finale, is blanketed in snow and lit with seasonal sparkle. It’s a winter-only view. Note that the castle image on the official page is from a previous year, so this year’s look may differ slightly. Japanese name: ホグワーツ城.

4. Diagon Alley, food and merchandise (TBA)

The official page teases “something new” in Diagon Alley this winter, plus limited-time food, drinks and exclusive merchandise. No details yet. The older price list page still shows a ¥6,300 minimum, but don’t expect to see it for winter dates. Second, Afternoon Tea is available for visits up to Mon 11 January 2027 and Evening High Tea up to Sun 10 January 2027. Both must be used at least 3 hours before the tour closes.

💡 일본의 팁: Prices vary by date, and the Studio Tour doesn’t publish a date-by-date price list. The exact price appears when you choose a date and time on the booking page, so compare two or three dates before you pay.

What are the opening hours during Magical Winter?

Doors open at 08:30 and the first tour starts at 09:00 on almost every day of the season. The Magical Feast To Share is the better deal for families. A family of four (two adults, two children) pays ¥88,000 including admission, and the evening finishes at 20:00, which is kinder to small children.

Neither dinner page sets out a cancellation policy, and the tickets page states that tickets are non-refundable, so treat your booking as final. Winter is the only time you see the castle and, this year, the Forbidden Forest under snow. The Studio Tour is mostly indoors, so cold or rainy days matter less than at most attractions (we keep a list of other rainy-day Tokyo ideas too). It isn’t cheap, though. At ¥6,600–7,300 for an adult, it costs more than most Tokyo attractions. If you’re only lukewarm about the films, spend the money elsewhere.

Japan has been named Favourite Country for a Holiday at the Ultratravel ULTRAs two years running (JNTO, 9 October 2026), and winter is one of the best times to see why. Studio Tour Tokyo fits neatly into a December trip alongside the Tokyo illuminations 및 Christmas markets.

Best photo spots at Magical Winter (and when the snow is on)

The Studio Tour’s own Magical Winter announcement leads on three shots: the candlelit Great Hall, the snowy Forbidden Forest and the snow-covered castle. Under #ワーナーブラザーススタジオツアー東京 you’ll also see plenty of costume outfits (“Harry Potter coordinates”) and café treats. Here’s how to get the shots.

Great Hall: it comes early in the tour, so book the first slot of the day (09:00 on most days) to beat the crowds behind you.

Snowy Forbidden Forest: follow the glowing footprints and frame Buckbeak against the white trees.

Hogwarts Castle model: walk the full loop around it. The light changes as you go.

Costumes: robes and character outfits are welcome at both dinners, and they’re a top Instagram theme. Bring a power bank, because you’ll shoot more than you expect.

When does the snow effect run? The official pages don’t list any timed snowfall. The snow is described as covering the Forbidden Forest and the castle for the whole season, so you don’t need to plan around a show time. If a timed effect is announced, we’ll add it here.

Film-inspired costumes are welcome at both December 2026 Hogwarts dinners. From 1 January 2027, advance parking tickets are no longer sold. The Studio Tour recommends the train.

Tap through with any IC card. If you don’t have one yet, read our IC card guide.

Half-day plan: Studio Tour, onsen and dinner in Ikebukuro

Most visitors go straight back to central Tokyo. Instead, stay for a soak. Toshimaen Niwa no Yu, a hot spring spa, is also a 2-minute walk from Toshimaen Station. Here’s a weekday plan for a group of adults.

Time

Stop

Cost

13:00

Studio Tour entry (book a 13:00 slot; on most weekdays the final tour starts at 15:00 and doors close at 19:00)

¥6,600–7,300 adult

17:00–18:00

Shop or café at the Studio Tour, then walk to Toshimaen Niwa no Yu (2 min from the station)

–

18:00

Enter Niwa no Yu at the Night Spa rate (from 18:00; the regular weekday rate before that is ¥2,600). That’s our own timing, not an official figure, so allow longer if you linger in the shop. Niwa no Yu opens 10:00–23:00 (last entry 22:00), and admission includes towels and loungewear. Its “special dates” pricing applies from Sat 26 December 2026 to Sun 3 January 2027. Prices are from the official Niwa no Yu page.

Three honest caveats. Niwa no Yu admits ages 13 and over only, so it doesn’t work for families with younger children.
