In late November and December that is roughly 16:45–17:30, when the sky is still deep blue instead of black. On a phone, use night mode and tap to expose for the lights, not the sky. On a camera, start at f/2.8, 1/60s and ISO 1600–3200 for handheld street shots. Many complexes ask visitors not to use tripods or selfie sticks on crowded walkways, so check the signs before you set up. For bokeh, stand back and zoom in on a row of trees, and keep your subject away from the lights. On cold nights batteries drain fast, so keep a spare in an inside pocket.

Shoot in the 30–40 minutes after switch-on, while the sky is still blue.
