Universal Cool Japan 2027: Conan, Sailor Moon Dates & Tickets

Universal Cool Japan 2027 runs at Universal Studios Japan (USJ) in Osaka in stages from 2 December 2026, and its headline programme, Detective Conan World, is on from Wednesday 10 February to Wednesday 30 June 2027. USJ has confirmed three Conan attractions: an escape game, a live restaurant in a new venue and a story ride on Hollywood Dream The Ride. Sailor Moon (from 2 December 2026) and The Apothecary Diaries (from 10 February) are also confirmed.

What is in Universal Cool Japan 2027?

USJ announced Universal Cool Japan 2027 on 30 September 2026 and has added to it twice since, on 1 October and 20 October. The first release says the event starts on 2 December 2026 and that each title runs on its own schedule. USJ says more collaborations will follow, but has not named them.

That means “Cool Japan 2027” is not one fixed period. Sailor Moon covers winter and early spring, while Conan and The Apothecary Diaries carry the event from February to the end of June.

Universal Cool Japan 2027 attractions: what is confirmed?

This table lists every attraction USJ has announced as of 27 October 2026. “Confirmed” means it appears in a USJ press release. “Not announced” means USJ has not published it yet, so don’t trust any site that gives a figure.

Two details stand out. The Live Restaurant moves to the Peacock Theater, the first change of venue and format since it began in 2018, according to the 20 October release (PDF). In 2026 the Conan restaurant ran at Lombardi’s Landing. Second, both the Sailor Moon and Conan story rides use Hollywood Dream The Ride, and their dates overlap from 10 February to 5 April 2027. USJ hasn’t yet said how the two will share the coaster.

USJ’s releases also warn that dates can change for maintenance. In 2026 the Conan story ride closed for maintenance from 2 to 21 February, so check the ride calendar before you build a February trip around it.

What else changes at USJ in early 2027?

Playing with Curious George, the gentle family ride open since 2018, has its finale on Sunday 28 February 2027, according to USJ’s 16 October release. USJ says a “new family entertainment experience” will follow but has given no details. George meet-and-greets continue.

Is Detective Conan World USJ 2027 worth planning a trip around?

For Conan fans, yes, but the Live Restaurant is the part that costs extra and sells by session. At ¥7,000–¥8,400 for an adult on top of park admission, two adults are looking at ¥14,000–¥16,800 before Studio Passes. The 20 October release says the menu, session times and ticket details will be published on the official site in stages.

The Escape is the other planning point. In 2026 it was a timed, separately ticketed experience at Stage 18. For 2027, USJ has confirmed the venue and format but not the price or whether you need a separate ticket, so watch the official Conan World page (Japanese).

How do USJ Cool Japan tickets work with 2027 pricing?

Since visits from 1 September 2026, USJ has set Studio Pass prices day by day according to demand. A date’s price can rise after it goes on sale as tickets sell, so buying early is the main way to save. USJ also added a lower floor: the adult 1-Day Studio Pass now starts at ¥8,400, ¥500 below the previous minimum, as reported by Daily Sports on USJ’s 30 June 2026 announcement.

These are starting prices from USJ’s list, as recorded in our tickets guide. USJ does not publish a maximum. In our 19 October check, adult 1-Day prices for late October to mid-December 2026 ran from ¥9,400 to ¥11,900, and no date showed the ¥8,400 floor. The tier logic is simple: weekends, holidays and event launches price high, while midweek dates in quiet months price low.

USJ has not said when February to June 2027 dates go on sale. When it does, buy as soon as your date opens, because the price only goes one way as it sells.

What is the best Universal Cool Japan Express Pass strategy?

As of 27 October 2026, USJ has not announced any Universal Cool Japan Express Pass for 2027, or which passes will include the Conan or Sailor Moon story rides. Ignore any listing that claims otherwise until it appears on USJ’s own store. Standard Express Passes start at ¥6,800 (Express Pass 4) and go up to ¥27,600 (Premium), with date-based pricing.

• Decide what you actually need to skip. The Live Restaurant is a ticketed session, so an Express Pass adds nothing there. The story ride and the 4-D show are the queues that matter.
• Check the ride version. In 2026 the story rides did not run on the Backdrop (backwards) version of Hollywood Dream The Ride. Read the Express Pass small print for which version it covers.
• Pick a weekday first, then buy Express. A quiet weekday in May or June can make a cheaper pass, or none, enough.
• Buy at the same time as your Studio Pass. Both are priced by date, and both get more expensive as dates fill.

USJ February 2027 to June 2027: which dates are busiest?

For Universal Cool Japan 2027, Japanese holidays and school breaks drive USJ crowds far more than foreign visitors do. The 2027 holiday dates below come from the Cabinet Office list in our Japan public holidays 2027 guide. School breaks are set locally; the Kyoto prefectural example is 21 March to 7 April.

How do you get to USJ for opening from Osaka or Kyoto hotels?

USJ’s station is Universal City on the JR Yumesaki Line, which starts at Nishikujo on the Osaka Loop Line. Some trains run through from Osaka Station. Park opening times for February to June 2027 are not published yet, so check USJ’s park calendar before you set an alarm.

Times come from the JR West timetable for October 2026 and a first-train summary based on it. JR West usually revises timetables each March, so check again for any trip after mid-March 2027. Kyoto to Osaka on JR costs ¥580.

What does a one-day Detective Conan World plan look like?

This Universal Cool Japan 2027 plan assumes a 1-Day Studio Pass, a weekday in May or June, and a Live Restaurant session booked in advance. Adjust it once USJ publishes Escape and restaurant time slots.

• About 75 minutes before opening: leave an Umeda or Namba hotel. From Kyoto, that means the first or second train, around 5:20 to 6:00.
• Gate opening: go straight to Hollywood Dream The Ride for the Conan story ride, before queues build.
• Mid-morning: your Escape slot at Stage 18 if it is timed, or Super Nintendo World if your timed entry falls here.
• Early afternoon: The Apothecary Diaries programme; location not yet announced.
• Late afternoon: Live Restaurant session at the Peacock Theater. In 2026 the Conan restaurant session lasted about 80 minutes.
• Evening: the classic rides as day-trippers leave, then the train back. Kyoto is about an hour away.

If you’re staying in Kyoto, consider one night near Universal City or in Umeda before your park day. It turns a 5:21 start from Kyoto into a short walk or a quick train ride.
